Frequently Asked Questions

How does teeth whitening work?

Over time teeth can get discoloured due to lifestyle choices such as drinking coffee, smoking cigarettes or not brushing correctly. Genetic factors and time also come into play. Luckily there is a way to regain whiter, brighter teeth to look younger and feel more confident.

All teeth whitening procedures work to remove superficial staining of the tooth. We do this by applying bleaching gel such as Hydrogen Peroxide or Carbamide Peroxide to a mouth tray which is then inserted into the mouth to allow for an even coating of the teeth in the gel. Then, a special LED light is used to activate the gel and the resulting reaction is what clears the staining & discolouration. Results are apparent after the first session. In some cases we also use ultrasonic cleaning machines to clear debris before whitening the teeth.

Depending on the level of staining, you may require up to three sessions or you can choose to take our DIY whitening kits home and perform the subsequent treatments yourself. The gels we use are completely safe and FDA approved so don’t worry, your teeth won’t catch fire and fall out. Check out this Zoom Teeth Whitening review for a better idea of what to expect.

How much does teeth whitening cost?

Prices range from between $80 for a touch up appointment to $250 for heavy smokers who want to go many shades whiter. An hour long treatment will cost $150 and is our most popular treatment.

Is tooth whitening painful?

Older techniques used to use harsher chemicals to bleach the teeth. We have done away with those harsh chemicals and use some of the most advanced techniques in the market such as ultrasonic cleaning & lasers so our treatments are painless. If you already suffer from sensitive teeth, then just let us know and we’ll use our sensitive teeth treatment.

Are tooth whitening kits safe?

Like with most things, not all versions are created equal. Be sure to buy your home teeth whitening kits from a reputable source and check the reviews before you buy. You really don’t want to skimp on the price and put something in your mouth that you will end up regretting. Things like incorrect bleaching agent concentration, poorly fitting mouth trays etc are things to watch out for. Our custom tooth whitening kits remove all those issues but if you wanted to buy something off the shelf, we’re recommend HiSmile.

How long does teeth whitening last?

Results last for about 3 years. Over time, just like the first time, stains build up due to lifestyle factors. A simple top up treatment is all that is required to strip the stains away to reveal your pearly whites.
